The Vienna Convention on Road Signs and Signals designates specifications for stop signs. Stop signs are used around the world, but not in every country because traffic laws vary considerably across the globe. For instance, in most parts of Europe, stop signs are only used on minor roads. In the United Kingdom, stop signs are only used in situations when visibility would be compromised with them; otherwise, Give Way signs or roundabouts are used.
